The third day is dedicated to Maa Chandraghanta. She is known as Chandraghanta or Chandra-Khanda because of the semi-circular moon (Chandra) that appears like a bell (Ghanta) on her forehead. As she is ever ready to fight battles, similarly she is quick to remove all obstacles and misfortunes of her devotees.
Mantra: Pindajapravararudha Chandakopastrakairyuta; Prasadam Tanute Mahyam Chandraganteti Vishruta.
Translation: May that Durga Devi, who rides on Tiger, who is endowed with intense anger and violence and is renowned by the name of Maa Chandraghanta, bestow her grace on me.
